43 Favorable On Most Crops
In Texas the 1943 crop season turned out favorable for most crops despite below average rainfall and a drought. The U S Department of Agriculture reports 26 921 00 acres harvested, up slightly from 1942, with overall yield 6 percent above the 10 year average. Cotton, peanut, and sorghum yields led the decline, while favorable weather during small grain harvests helped offset losses and maximize labor use.
