Mexican Senate News on Oil Law Reform

Mexico City Dec 28 The Chamber of Deputies passed by unanimous vote a presidential bill reforming disputed articles of the Mexican oil law. A five member committee will take the measure to the senate where debate is seen tomorrow. The bill amends articles 14 and 15, aligning with a 1917 constitution retroactivity issue and a supreme court ruling in favor of the Mexican Petroleum Company. The committee endorsed the bill and included a penalty for parties not applying for concessions within a year after publication, renouncing such rights against the government.
