Annexed Residents Adjust to San Antonio Citizenship
In Tuesday’s annexation of Westwood Village and Valley-Hi, residents largely accepted city citizenship amid petitions against it. Merchants added a 1 percent city sales tax, while fireworks stands along Marbach Road stayed closed. Fire units expanded in the new districts with police and public works crews tidying up. Residents mixed on rate changes, hoping water, insurance, and garbage costs would adjust favorably, while some questioned city services for outlying areas.
