Gardens for Bexar Seen in 1446 Planting Push
Twelve thousand spring gardens are planned in Bexar County for 1446 if the farm agents meet their goal. Miss Mary J. Reed and Miss Sveve Grapsky report 11,200 spring gardens and 3,600 full gardens completed last year. The extension program, aided by Texas A and M College, serves 260 families in 4664 joint communities. Nellie Bey of Roule 5 sold dressed chickens, cream, eggs and cakes totaling 2045 dollars. Each of 100 rural families aided 23 other families in a mass movement to preserve food, yielding 350,000 containers of vegetables and meat stored during the year. Twenty home demonstration and 21 girl 4-H clubs renovated 13,602 garments.
