Opinion: retailers must pay for excess liquor quantities
Pess, AUSTIN, Tex., Dec. 26. Assistant Attorney General C. E. Fane says retailers selling more than one gallon must pay $376 to the state for pursuing a wholesale dealer and may owe half to their county or city. They must also pay gross receipts tax per the Thirty-first legislature, while counties and cities may not collect extra gross receipts taxes from retailers. Revenue Agent House will enforce this and ensure retailers selling large liquor quantities pay the wholesale license tax as well.
