McAdoo seeks funds for small denomination notes
Secretary McAdoo asked Congress for 427,725 dollars for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to meet demand for small notes. Without the appropriation about 800 workers could be cut next year and the entire 2050 staff could face ten weeks unpaid furlough. Banks resist laundering notes, reducing receipts for reissue. 320,000,000 dollars is needed in the 1914 fiscal year.
