Alfred Thompson, 2 white man, faced Judge Buckley in the corporation court on vagrancy charges. A $10 maximum fine was imposed after a highly emotional defense invoking his Canadian hometown and his mother. Detective Newnam testified Thompson was at the race track acting as a looter. currency and valuables were found. Thompson protested his innocence but was convicted and fined.

Surgeon Seals Nerve For Young Man With Broken Arm
Washington reported a rare operation on Henry Somerville aged 30 at 1508 Twenty Ninth Street NW. Dr L H Taylor sewed the severed musculospiral nerve with silk, mended the arm bone, and Somerville may leave hospital in weeks though full nerve vitality returns after about a year. The injury caused wrist drop and temporary paralysis after a baseball fracture.

Wisconsin girl Candler tops state honey record
Cassville Wisconsin resident Miss Candler, age 24, is hailed as the sweetest on record for her bee operation. She produced about 4,000 pounds of honey with a 300 pound output of bee colonies, doing much of the work herself due to labor shortages. Local markets and clover blooms fueled a strong honey season despite scarce help and price pressures from big-city dumping.
