A cholera case was reported in Honolulu in May involving a Hawaiian stevedore named Berar Drogera. The brief dispatch notes the case as confirmed and indicates health authorities began arranging containment measures.
Don Whitey of Bayonne New Jersey says he will petition health authorities to remove diphtheria from the list of contagious diseases. He argues the disease is not contagious and that there is no need to isolate houses where a case exists, or to keep a child from school when a family has diphtheria. Dr Swiney asked the Bayonne Medical Society to join the petition, but the society voted not to act.
Yesterday evening at 401 Van Nese Street the wedding joined James C Wingfield formerly of Temple Texas with Mrs C Pope a respected San Antonio resident. Wingfield’s Temple friends extend warm congratulations on his happy fortune and best wishes for their future.
A morning fire at 226 West Baltimore Street caused extensive damage to a five story building housing Wilenzig Brothers & Co, Baltimore Overall Company, and Robinson Valenstein & Co. The blaze, described as of threatening proportions, burned until the damage neared a quarter of a million dollars.
The Big Tent theater offers True Kentacstan for a last performance with a large crowd despite bad weather. The socialities remain a feature as the bill includes A Bitter Atonement tomorrow afternoon and repeats tonight.
W C G Helt, superintendent of the antisaloonist league, denounced San Antonio and Gexay county officers for failing to enforce laws. Bishop Johnson warned saloon interests undermine law, while Rev N B Harmon presided. The meeting reviewed prosecution progress and noted cases filed, awaiting convictions as evidence and trials proceed.
R W Wellacs and Mr Wallace spoke in San Antonio about oil potential at the Mission field. They predicted large quantities may be found, with fuel use and economic benefits seen but cautioned against overestimating value. They noted cheap fuel could attract factories and railroads, boosting the local economy while oil men arrive to assess the field.

Senator TP Stone also seeks the Lind commissioner seat, and Terrell appears as a rival in local politics. Meanwhile an unrelated ad touts Bromo Quinine as a cold remedy.
Six hours of heated testimony close with indecision as the December Brand jury adjourns after deliberations over indictments against members of the Milk Dealers Association charged in “slifliie competition” in Chenya. Jury to reconvene to reopen arguments and render final vote on guilt or innocence.
A woman from Memphis, traveling from her home toward San Antonio, was arrested in Waco on a shoplifting theory. Dan McNamara and Felice Smith assisted in the arrest as silk goods were taken. The suspect denies the crime while officers claim strong evidence.
The Xmas fund for the city’s holiday party nears $500 with Italy-based gifts and morning contributions. The Indies’ organization and The Light co operate to help poor children enjoy a festive Marketball party on December 27 at 2:20 PM with Santa Claus inviting all young friends.
