Security guard charged after shooting shopper at used car lot
Bob G. Ryan, 38, was shot outside a Santa Rosa used car lot as security guard Norman Lighthall, 33 caliber pistol, claims accidental discharge. Ryan, in satisfactory condition, was released on bond under $3,500 after appearing before Night Magistrate Phil Chavarria. The incident occurred as Ryan looked at a truck and police were called following a disturbance report.

Traffic Toll Hits Record In San Antana Incident
A pedestrian collision Wednesday in San Antana pushed the annual traffic death toll to a new high, surpassing 1968’s record. Morena Rodriguez, 88, of El Paso, died at West Rosa County Hospital after being struck at SW 400 block at 2:15 am by a vehicle driven by Charles Mreon, 20, of SW 5th.

200 Tapes Wanted Watergate subpoenas issued to White House
Senate Watergate committees chief counsel said subpoenas for about 120 items including 20 tape recordings and 100 other documents would be served today. The panel voted to issue the subpoenas after a new law empowered action. Samuel Dash said Nixon aides had agreed to accept on the President's behalf. The White House may comply as the subpoenas are pursued in the pursuit of Watergate matter details.
