Submarine Falcon sank in fifty-five feet of water sinks again
Navy salvage crews battle a problem with the U S S Falcon after the stern remains pinned to the bottom of Great Salt Pond. Attempts to lift with pontoons and draining of ballast tanks failed, as flooding in the engine room kept the hulk negatively buoyant despite rising bow. Weather and cold hindered work as experts speculated water entered compartments during the sinking test.
