A white man named Dave Ryan attempted to steal a woman's cloak valued at 645 dollars from Newman Co.'s doorway last night around seven. Clerk Ed Sachs pursued. Ryan threw the cloak into Blum & Koenigsberger's doorway, fled down Commerce Street, jumped a fence on Casino Street, and hid among wagons. Officer Ryman located him and took him to the bat cave.
