Southwestern University endowment gains $500,009 this week
In Egrgetown on December 18 Southwestern Universitys general endowment fund rose by about $500,009. A $30,000 gift from Dr and Mrs T M Harrell of Corpus Christi was announced at a ceremonial carol service dinner. The Harrells designated their donation as a memorial to their son Jean Pressley Harrell who attended Southwestern from 1934 to 1938.

W B Cornier lost $213 in a break in at 747 Stratford Court, while A H Matthews reported coats and other goods, and a shotgun vanished from 1130 Hays Street. A car at 305 Carona Street was hit for coats, a shotgun. A Denver man reported two suitcases taken from a car at Laveda and Commerce. Prolific looting included brushes, a case from W E Boynton’s parked car, and pockets picked of $15 from Robert Zapata near Santa Rosa and Houston. Three shotguns and a .22 rifle were recovered near Travis and Caiuaron after theft from Pete Wagner’s Bunchep. One arrest linked to the burglaries.
