Bold plan to meet Texas water needs over fifty years
Special to The Light outlines a Texas Water Development Board plan to develop vast reservoirs and underground storage, moving up to 64 rivers and more than 2.2 million acre feet of municipal wastewater, with two huge canals to supply Dallas, Houston, West Texas and the Panhandle. It envisions a $10 billion program funded by federal and state loans and bonds, repaid by beneficiaries, plus tests by Texas agencies and hearings before voter approval in 1970.

Cuero Pipeline S. A. Must Develop Reservoir
The Texas Water Development Board plans released call for rapid development of San Antonio area water supplies. Five reservoirs on the San Antonio River watershed are proposed including Cibolo and Cuero reservoirs with costs ranging from 5.7 million to 125.1 million dollars. The plan envisions a Cuero to San Antonio pipeline, diversions from Guadalupe and other rivers, and aims for congressional authorization by 1972 to support lower coastal water needs by 1980.
