Texas firemen and police seek pay boosts and anti Communist law
Texas fire and police associations back a legislative program featuring a across the board pay raise, an eight hour day and six day week, plus extra vacation days for holidays. They seek a statewide minimum pay boost to 250 dollars a month for firemen and 200 dollars for policemen with 25 years’ service, plus a six major holidays provision and a ban on Communist employment. Opposition from municipal groups is expected.
