Refugees Reach Flint as Voyage for Finnish Refugees Planned

Nenyny Hergen reports the City of Flint may sail to the United States with Finnish refugees. An American vessel is due Saturday from Haugesund Norway, then to a northern Norwegian port to pick up the Finns. Captured by German raider Dertechland on October 9, the Flint was taken to Murmansk and later retaken by American hands. A Belgian fishing fleet meanwhile fled a French mine field after their nets tangled and they ran for safety.

Drug Store Chain Founder Is Dead

Charles H. Walgreen founder of a vast drug store empire died last night at 66 after rising from an $18 a week clerk to head a chain of nearly 500 stores in 39 states with annual sales around 50 million dollars. He left the presidency last summer due to ill health and was elected chairman. his son CH. Walgreen II became president. Private funeral services will be held in Dixon, Illinois, with his widow and daughter Mrs. John W. Stephan among survivors.
