County commissioners opened with routine salutes and light banter delaying any decision on Roshfest. County Judge Charles W. Anderson urged punctual sessions, visiting each office at 6:00 a.m. to pressure members while Bab Uhr balked at the aye roll call and hinted at mayoral plans amid annexation gripes and payroll reforms.
In a tense meeting, officials argued over annexing a 25 acre Edgewood farm. Commissioner P K Anderson touted readiness while Uhr claimed twelve years in office. Donnell pressed Uhr about Roosevelt era tenure, and Stappenbeck admitted eight years. County Judge Anderson rejected funding, proposing use of general funds. a calamitous outcome was warned if newspapers were not paid. The matter was sent to County Auditor Gervey as the meeting adjourned.

Five boy juveniles were charged with auto theft and a 16 year old Black girl with soliciting, all in county custody. Two boys acted together in one theft while four others faced separate offenses. County juvenile officer Dora Davenport said the girl was from Baytown and has loitered on East Commerce Street for six months. Her Baytown relatives reportedly do not want her.
Mary Prances Morris was charged in Frank Vaughen's justice court Monday with forging and passing a $30 check cashed at the National Bank of Commerce. The check bore the name I. P. Blanchett of New Orleans at 301 Canal Street. All details indicate a Alabama connection and the case proceeds in local court.

Local stores hiring for the holidays require workers to have a Social Security card to maintain wage records. F. J. McCarthy Jr, manager of the local Social Security office, urged obtaining a work permit and proper coverage through the insurance program. Cards and permits are available at the Maverick building office.
