Miler Montag of San Antonio was elected nominat ing president elect of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants at a Friday board meeting in Beaumont. Montag, a partner in Lewis and Montag, has served as a director and was San Antonio Chapter vice president in 1956. He is secretary and a Kiwanis Club director, chaired HemisFair underwriting, and has been on the Bexar County retirement board.

Barlow Seeks Priority Subpoenas for Trials
District Attorney Barlow will host a noon meeting at DeWinne's Belgium Inn with Police Chief Bidsel Sheriff Hauck 144th District Court Judge Archie Brows and other officials to adopt a priority subpoena system. Subpoenas would include detailed witness data such as occupation and hangouts to speed testimony in murder and DUI cases and better coordinate trial calendars with deputies and officers.
