An American citizen and Jew, Harry Dirk, was held for six months in Hamburg on suspicions tied to plans to smuggle gold. Washington December 7 Senate profit sharing hearing featured YT M Beavers vice president of People's Drug Co describing profit sharing as like kissing your wife in the morning for good relations but unlikely to work if a government agent watches. Work of Mexican School to Be Told at Beacon Hill Church

The Rev. Brooks Mebane of the Texas-Mexican Institute will address Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church members at 7 30 p m Wednesday about the good work done for Mexican boys who attend the school. Premier Spaak Maintains Confidence In Government

In Brussels the chamber of deputies backed Socialist Premier Paul Spaak on foreign policy with a vote of 110 to 49. Thirty eight Socialists opposed while Catholic Liberal Rexist and Flemish Laborite members supported him. The decision followed exchanges over commercial agents with Insurgent Spain.

Board of Equalization Grants $10000 Hotel Tax Cut

The city board of equalization on Wednesday considered five property assessment reduction pleas. It granted a $10,000 cut for the Jefferson hotel while denying requests for the Plaza hotel Smith Youngbower Texas theater building and Majestic Theater building. Tax Commissioner Theo M. Plumer said all pleas rested on income loss and depreciation.

Methodist Ministers Name Batchelor Leader in San Antonio

The Organization of the Methodist Ministers association in San Antonio was completed Monday with Dr S L Batchelor as president and Rev Don E Redmond as secretary. Meetings will be at Travis Park Church at 10 am each Monday and cover business evangelism study and books. Committees named by Batchelor include program publicity recreation and more with several named reverends assisting.

Finance Companies Re-elect S A Man President

S A Man was re-elected president of the Texas Association of Finance Companies at a two day convention held in the Gunter hotel. Officers named include Wright Titus of Dallas as vice president Lis ton Zahder of San Antonio as secretary and several directors from Fort Worth Dallas Abilene Wichita Falls and Harlingen. Fort Worth was chosen as the 1932 convention site and the conclave ended with a banquet Tuesday night.
