Cattle Raisers Seek Tariff Protection at National Meeting
Ed C. Lasater, president of the Texas Cattle Raisers Association, plans to urge Congress to grant cattle producers tariff protection similar to manufacturing industries. Speaking at the St. Anthony Hotel, he says cattle are discriminated against in tariff schedules and risks losing profits or leaving the business unless relief is found. Lasater will attend the National Live Stock association convention in Denver this month and expects a petition to Congress as the likely outcome. He departs for Fort Worth then Denver, noting no action on selling agencies will occur at the convention.
