Patterson's Road Route Plans Surveyed for San Antonio Line
At a San Antonio and Aransas Pass railroad meeting Colonel Belknap backed immediate work while Captain Polk presented two route surveys from San Antonio to deep water near Aransas Pass. The East Line via Lamar and the West Line along the San Antonio valley face grading, dredging, and embankment costs, with right of way mainly donated. Estimates detail distances, terrain, and cost scenarios for routes to Lamar, Aransas Bay, and Red Fish Bay with Beeville and Goliad areas highlighted.

If It Only Had Worked Right It Should Be Patented
Freight Conductor Bob Sadler of the Interna tional and Great Northern road boasted of sealing eight tramps in a box car at a depot. A tramp freed them, broke the seal, and the car door opposite the platform stood open when Sadler returned with a policeman. His friends laughed at the failed trap and the tale of the jokester conductor.
