Investor patience urged in shaky stock market lessons
A reader letter discusses a $4,000 starter portfolio in five stocks and how quick gains influenced a sale. The columnist warns against chasing action, stresses long term growth, and explains yields, converting to income, and why savings accounts differ from equities.
Market Mixed As Stocks Slip In Thin Trading
New York markets show a mild downturn with declines outpacing gains amid rising interest rates. The session features losses in several industrials and autos while steelmakers, electronics, and commodities show mixed movements and traders note an overbought condition in some issues.

San Antonio Vital Statistics and Livestock Trade Oddities
A garbled San Antonio page blends livestock prices and births with odd notes on marriage licenses and obliquely references to stock market moves. Readers encounter cattle weights, prices for cows and heifers, and numerous named people, places, and firms amid fragmented notices and divorced entries from a broader market report.

Bias Banned by AMA Group in MD Chapter Action
The AMA House of Delegates voted to expel the Stag Medical Societics if they repeatedly deny AMA membership to doctors on grounds of race religion or nationality. Delegates from North Carolina Louisiana opposed the bylaw as a state rights issue while New Jersey and Massachusetts supported suspension citing public and press concerns. This marks the strongest anti discrimination move by the AMA though it had condemned such bias before without detailing penalties.
