Visions of Joan Possibly From Upset Stomach Says Doctor
A London psychiatrist argues St Joan of Arc’s visions may stem from gastroenteritis and fatigue endured during imprisonment. Dr Kenyon at Oxford’s Wameford Hospital cites eidetic imagery and notes visions of saints, Lilliputian figures, and long fasting windows. He estimates travel of about 3330 miles across 1420–30 and suggests imagery could be externally reported by the observer.
