Reporter Keeps Secret Wedding of San Antonio Journalist
John W. Babcock city hall reporter for the San Antonio Light married Elsie Mayers of Austin on May 1 after four months of secrecy. The couple began a childhood romance with Babcock a University of Texas alumnus, class of 19%. Elsie Mayers is the daughter of Mrs. J. F. Ewing of Austin and has worked in the state insurance commissioner’s offices. They plan to make their home in San Antonio.
