Alkali In Soap Bad For the Hair
Soap should be used carefully to protect hair. Most soaps and shampoos have excess alkali that dries the scalp and makes hair brittle. The recommended remedy is purified coconut oil with water to produce a rich lather that cleanses hair and scalp without harm. Coconut oil is cheap and readily available at pharmacies.
