Los Angeles Heights School District on Sound Financial Footing
The Los Angeles Heights Independent School District reports a sound financial footing for the new year. Business manager H. C. Bain says about $8,000 will be on hand October 1 to meet sinking fund obligations of $8,009, with the fund previously in default. Budget estimates for 1939-40 total $73,148, down from $79,341 in 1938-39, aided by $60,000 in cost savings from operating cuts. Delinquent and current taxes collected over the summer enable sizeable payments on a 1937 issue, with about $1,400 spent early and $5,500 remaining to retire by August 31. Salary increases for the year hinge on the system’s condition.
