School Land Sale Halted in Rains County Texas
Judge Grover Sellers halted the planned sale of about 3300 acres of Rains county school lands in Hooks Ley county after overruling a defense motion to dissolve a temporary injunction. The tract, part of a 11000-acre original parcel, was described as prairie land with no improvements and was proposed to be sold at 14 per acre, a figure countered by A G Paynng of Lubbock who testified no nearby land sold for under 15 per acre.
