Lyons a Wise Stop for AEF Students in World War I
J H M recalls a postwar program for American soldiers in Lyons France after 1918. He describes the University of Lyons as a broadening, relaxed environment with no formal roll calls or dorm restrictions, where US enlisted men could study and explore culture while awaiting postwar arrangements. He highlights Lyons as a half million city, free from Pershing influence, and notes lessons for future wartime education programs.
