Medicine God Elbows With San Antonian
A bizarre report tells of an American-born Chinese restaurateur in San Antonio who received a letter claiming a Mexican woman would send powders to conjure power. A parcel from Pedro Negros was opened in the post office with the Chinese owner fearing his wife and business would suffer if the powders reached him. The postmaster and others observed as the package was inspected, the contents described as a sandy mixture and the owner warned the powders could drive one crazy.
