Oklahoma pastor and bride face grand jury in minister’s wife death
In Mubeogee Oklahoma a grand jury was convened to hear Rev A Berrie 89 and his 19yearold bride regarding the death of his first wife 51. County Governor Phil Oldham said he would present letters and poems said to show exchanges between the clergyman and his second wife before the first wife’s death. The body was exhumed after a state chemist found poison, and the couple were held as witnesses. The Rev Berrie had married the former Ta Bess Bright two months after the first wife’s death. The minister had been charged locally with teachings not in accord with church doctrine.
