Ruling Allows Reconsignment of Beer by Galveston Agent
Attorney General B F Looney and Assistant County Attorney W B Anthony, at Stanley Newding's request, say the Allison bill does not bar reconsignment of liquor by a consignee’s agent at Galveston. Northern breweries may ship to Galveston and reconsign to San Antonio, not requiring the intermediary to be a wholesale dealer. Newding argued the ruling lowers freight costs, avoiding through shipment at higher rates. AG Looney confirms no provision of the act prohibits such reconsignments, clarifying shipments between Galveston agents and San Antonio wholesale dealers.
