CPS May Consider Cutting City Payments at Hearing
At a Thursday night City Hall hearing attended by over 100 residents, CPS proposed reducing or eliminating its annual payment to the city as part of steps to cut spending. CPS general manager Jack Spruce said costs are being trimmed and payroll reduced by about 40 employees to offset an $18 million revenue shortfall, with the first measure to drop the city's payment. Protests focused on rate hikes rather than CPS extension policies, and a subcommittee report is expected next week outlining options on city payments and policy extensions.
