Army Plans New Training to Cut Division Readiness Time
Gen. Mark Clark announced new, unconventional training methods to shorten division readiness from about 15 months to nine for regulars and five to six months for National Guard. He said draftees will be trained to know their role and to be ruthless soldiers, ready for combat within six months, with consultations planned with national guard commanders next week.

Miss Lupe Gatza 17 of 1816 N Sabinas Jr is in fair condition after an auto collision at Broadway and Fourth St. Robert Lentzner 25 of 5615 Broadway struck Florentino Ramirez 1007 N Cherry Jr turning the car over. Rudy Venander 19 of Long Beach Calif had a broken jaw and badly cut ear. Both others were hospitalized at Baptist Memorial.

Miss Texas for 1950 will be chosen tonight at Landa park in New Braunfels in the first annual Miss Texas pageant and aquacade. Beauties from 23 Texas cities competed Friday before 2000 spectators and perform in bathing suits or formats.
