Great Dane Mardo Captures Lion in startling zoo exhibit
A two year old Great Dane named Mardo, 183 pounds, tamed a lion at the Cincinnati Zoological Society's gardens. Col. 5 A. Stephay notes the keeper failed to heed the lion's reluctance, prompting the dog to bite and hold the neck, forcing the lion to submit. The event ends with the lion cowed and returned to its cage, while Mardo resumes ordinary exercise on a leash.
