A joint action committee of the San Antonio Federation of Teachers and the San Antonio Teachers Council urged a higher cost of living raise. About 100 SAFT members picketed at the San Antonio School District offices on Lavaca Street carrying signs like Quality Education Costs You Get What You Paid For and Teachers Betrayed by School Board. Builders sidestep subcommittee on utility extensions policy
Developers appear to bypass City Public Service subcommittee studying extension rules and await a full council hearing. CPS proposes raising costs on new service extensions and reduces front end allowances. COPS argues the full cost should fall on developers. Cliff Morton notes developers will wait for council input. Hartman committee has sent recommendations to the whole council. Currently, developers pay 36 cents per linear foot. CPS suggests 31.60. Front end distance allowance to developers and customers may drop from 259 feet to 70 feet.
