Black inmate executed for Cavitt slaying in Texas
Gerrett Thomas, known as nezen pail, was executed by electric chair at Huntsville State Penitentiary at 1 a.m. The prisoner refused to speak to the chaplain and uttered a final statement, “Rothin’ to cay.” He requested no notification of his death to his family. Thomas was hanged for slaying Cavitt who tried to protect his daughter during the incident.
