Barefoot killer walks free in Florence Elder case
Police traced Florence Elder’s killing to alcohol fueled suspects and a suspect known as a Skid Row Romeo. Despite interviews, a man who roomed at her home and Mantell Elder’s lie detector test, no weapon was found and the case remained unsolved two years later. The bartender placed Elder at a South Alamo bar hours before her death, and authorities noted she declined a ride home from a middle aged man before dying in river weeds.
