Medic Leaves Army Retired Captain Ralph L Phillips
Retired at Brooke Army Medical Center, Captain Ralph L Phillips, a young combat medical officer wounded six times and once recommended for the Medal of Honor, served with the First Battalion 148th Infantry from Guadalcanal to Manila. His unit, Phillips Raiders, endured heavy casualties and defended an aid station amid brutal combat as Japanese forces pressed to kill all wounded.
