Funeral set for Ad Executive killed in auto crash
Bill N. Yancy 37 of 106 Brittany San Antonio advertising executive and partner in Yancy and McGee Advertising Agency died in an early Friday crash when his car overturned several times east of Linton on FM 881. He was returning from a Rockport trip. He had worked as art director and promotion manager for WOAT before 1960. He is survived by two sisters in Fort Worth and Houston.

Truck Explodes Amid Parade Crowd After Tow Vehicle Malfunction
An old car stalled on Commerce Main suddenly burst into flames as a military wrecker tried to move it. The car tumbled toward spectators near the intersection, 100 feet from the parade route, and exploded. Flames shot up about 50 feet. the vehicle owned by D. A. Smith of Holbrook Road was demolished.

Eight injured as bus rope entangles during parade day incident
Eight people, including six children, were injured when a rope used to guide a bus during the Battle of Flowers parade became taut and wrapped around the wheels. The accident occurred about 1:30 pm near San Fernando Cemetery area as the Angelus Chapel services were underway. Local hospitals treated and released several. one person remained hospitalized.
