A Lesson in Natural History by King W Lardner
The author recounts a circus visit with friends, noting giraffes, a tall Capt Auger, and various freak acts with humorous asides. He previews zoological articles on the hippopotamus, royal Bengal tiger, elephant, and giraffe, interjecting anecdotes about seating and reflections on education. The piece closes with a local Rockport update on a new administration and plans for a pleasure pier and wharf.
