Pioneers Name New President in Texas Pioneers
Edward W. Heusinger was unanimously elected president of the State Se ua Association of Texas Pioneers on the 100th anniversary of Texan settlement. Heusinger, a Royal Geographical Society member, led the George Washington bicentennial ceremony in 1932 and San Antonio’s Al bicentennial observance, and recently published The Heusinger Family in Texas. He succeeds Buck West as president. other officers include Joe Olivarri Henry Hejn and F F Weiss as vice presidents and trustees Jim Maverick J D Massey Fred Sauer Otto Gass and Mrs Frederick Reutzel. The group discussed drafting two new constitutions. Frank Bushick, founding president in 1918, remains honorary life president.

Woman leaves purse in drug store near Blanco and Fulton

Frio Town once had 2500 residents at the turn of the century and dwindled as people moved to Pearsall. Mrs. Artie Slaughter Roberts, her grandson William, and his wife are now the only inhabitants. The town, once a trail outpost between Eagle Pass and San Antonio, relied on the Roberts family for a general store and meals. Mrs. Roberts served as postmistress for 47 years until 1940 when mail shifted to Pearsall.
