Elitir Feenchs House History and Midway Defense Secrets
Elitir Feenchs says his mother is a great great granddaughter of Colonel Garretay who built the house built in 1740. Washington occupied the house in 1786 and used it as a temporary official home. Naval and Army Navy boards were surprised to learn a detailed government defense plan for Midway Islands had been publicly disclosed. A survey was made to support fortification plans, contradicting secrecy. Saratoga Restaurant at 228 East Houston Street advertises late hours and dining with private rooms.
