German Master Spy Arrested in New York
Lieutenant Colonel Arthur E. Bielkowsky, a 79 year old retired German artillery officer, was seized by U.S. secret service in New York as part of a broad roundup of alien enemies. Boy Scout Killed by Marine Guard at Light Plant
In North Port Long Island April 7 James Rhattigan 14 was shot and killed by a marine guard guarding the Telefunken wireless station. He and companion Thomas Hall were in a car they thought the guard’s challenge was a joke and drove on. The guard fired twice over the car then directly at it. Rhattigan died instantly. Both boys wore boy scout uniforms and came from prominent families. Guards were ordered to clear streets if problems arose at the light plant.
