Rates advisory on interstate rail charges for cattle
Austin reports the Texas Railroad Commission urged a conference with railroads on emergency interstate rate reductions for range cattle shipments. Edgar Clark of the Interstate Commerce Commission says shippers and railroads arranged the terms, extending the rate changes beyond the original limit. He notes intrastate movements in Kansas and Texas were discussed but not pursued, as petitioners did not seek those adjustments. Congressman Jones discussed the matter, with Clark indicating the interstate agreement would likely guide any related intrastate action.
