Arthur Storms of the company, ha placed demonstrators in his booth. The Pioneer Flour Mills is supply ing Mrs. Chitwood with all of thn his way to Galveston with all the ixeeutive officers of the road, after iclding a meeting here Monday. Mr. Haile said progress is being nade steadily on the extension plans. Substantial increase in traffic from his region are being enjoyed by his road, he said. He praised San An- onio's construction program and said hat Saa-Antonio will not suffer from lack of railroad traffic. French Girl Protested in Beach Revue GALVESTON, April Reports of a free lance French candidate for the title of "Beauty Queen of the Universe" at the international beauty pageant in Galveston May 21-23 brought cabled protests from sponsors of the official "Miss France." The letter came from Baron Maurice de Waleffe, editor and publish- er of Paris-Midi and Le Journal, and quoted press dispatches from America to the effect that a French girl claiming to be the "most beautiful woman in and who seeks to enter the Galveston pageant, is being detained by immigration author- ities at Ellis island. Elks of San Antonio were operat- ng Tuesday under a newly elected set of. officers, following their installa- tion Monday night in the recently re- modeled home of the lodge. Jack R.
