Prohibition Return Forecast by Upshaw in WV Speech

In Vancouver, April 4 the veteran congressman Upshaw predicted a return of prohibition in the United States. He said the people did not vote for prohibition but for the design to restore it, speaking at a sail-sation event in West Virginia.

Texas prison brutality claims trigger probe at Angleton farm

Houston April 4 P Man ager Lee Simmons of the Texas prison system said there was nothing new about convicts chopping off their feet and otherwise injuring themselves to get out of work. W A Boyett prison board member charged inmates at a farm near Angleton mutilated themselves amid brutality by guards. Governor James V allied ordered Ranger Captain to investigate conditions as prison heads conducted their own inquiry. Simmons said three men showed bruises during a physical by Dr Veazey and one guard’s actions are under investigation. Long-term prisoners are kept at the farm.
