Thieves broke into W. T. Pierce home at 917 Lamar Street between 1 and 5 pm Thursday. They ate the pantry contents, opened trunks, broke locks, and departed with a revolver and a suitcase among other valuables. Pierce notified police but no detective appeared by morning.
Cablegrams report 29 000 San Blas Indians on the Colombian Panama frontier began a revolt against Panama incited by Colombian officials. A large police force is sent to Porto Obaldia as an outbreak has occurred.
G D Malone a New Orleans special writer for a Washington press association died in Oil City after drinking several bottles of lemon extract. He was in the Caddo oil field taking photographs and gathering data for a special article on oil and gas development in the area.
Mary Patillo age year old is back at home in Redbank New Jersey after an October 20 disappearance. Police had no clues until the father discovered her in the family yard last night. Her father Frank Patillo had faced ransom demands from Blackhanders amid the long mystery.

Fireman J. R. Dunn was instantly killed at midnight in Fayetteville when struck by a northbound Missouri Kansas & Texas passenger train. He was in charge of a G. 4. & H. engine and the water glass broke causing him to alight into blinding steam.
Captain Bailey faced gun possession charges in San Antonio when he was mistaken for Cap'n Bill McDonald and arrested at the city station. Judge Edward Dwyer and Assistant District Attorney C C M Chambers intervened, obtaining a habeas corpus release and clarifying the right to carry a firearm under orders linked to Mayor Callaghan.
A ten to fourteen day robbery spree ended last night after a watchman fought with a gang of Mexicans. One assailant was arrested, and the grocery-store proprietor near Alazan Creek is jailed for receiving and concealing stolen goods. Detectives found wagonloads of macaroni candy corn and grain at his store, believed to come from freight cars in the International and Great Northern yards.
Oscar Hammerstein holds the Santa Anna for his bulldog in New York. The dog was not on the Brooklyn pier when the steamship prepared to sail to Marseilles. A tug with the dog reached the pier after seventeen minute hold.
Major General Wallace F. Randolph retired chief of the coast artillery corps killed himself at his Washington home. He had suffered kidney trouble and was 69. Randolph served in the Spanish American War commanding field artillery with Shafter in Cuba before leading the coast artillery from 1901 to 1904. He was a Pennsylvania native.
The district attorney refused to release D F Sapp awaiting grand jury action after a shooting of City Detective Frank Newnam on January 10. Judge Edward Dwyer heard habeas corpus arguments as DA Baker said the jury will decide soon and that no release hearing will occur. Newnam and police testimony have been presented to the grand jury, but its vote on indictment remains secret.
Paris reports Captain Bellanger of the aviation corps completed a flight from Vincennes to Mourmelon covering 100 miles in 70 minutes. He kept an average altitude of 4900 feet due to very high winds.
Philadelphia reports two men, John Keyser and Charles Avtsin, perished trying to rescue coworker Joseph Maggier at a Manayunk paper mill. Maggier, who later survived in critical condition, had entered a large tank to clean it when toxic fumes from pulped gas overcame him. Keyser and Avtsin followed to assist and also died.
Thad T. Adams 47 former 92nd district representative in the Texas Thirty-first Legislature died at his San Antonio home at 4:30 this morning from heart failure. Born Natchez Mississippi, he moved to Texas in 1883 and pursued law after a railroad career. Funeral Sunday at 3 pm under Sam Houston Camp Woodmen of the World. interment Knights of Pythias cemetery. He had advocated reform and the city charter move. Surviving: widow, daughter Katie Lee, son John B. Adams.
Census data show the country’s population increasing by more than 16 million over the last ten years. Officials attribute gains to natural increase and immigration, with higher counts in urban counties and coastal regions.

In a late night duel at Whitehurst Breathitt county Kentucky the mountain desperado known as Bad Bill Bailey was killed. J C Shepperd who fired the fatal shot was wounded in the exchange and reported seriously injured according to today’s dispatches.

Rival delegations from both cities urged their case as Putnam backed New Orleans for its railroad activity seaport and geographic position.
