In St Louis on August 6 Bessie Unger 22 said a local want ad lured her to a room in an abandoned building where a black man with a revolver attacked her. Police broke in as he fled through a window and he was captured after leaping to an alley. He was identified by Unger and taken to police headquarters amid threats of lynching.
