Canadian justice acted quickly after the arrest of Dr. Hawley H. Crippen and Ethel Levene on alleged murder links. Crippen arraigned and held for August 8, while Levene awaits court. Bail and habeas options loom as fugitives face possible return to London aboard the Royal George.
Bert S Durham a former San Diego fire department employee, shot dead three people including his wife and child, fatally wounded a fourth and seriously wounded a fifth after a false alarm. He targeted Captain Sampsell with a personal grudge. He then fled as officers arrived.
Austin Texas August 1 B P Teague former chief clerk of the comptroller department resigned to run for comptroller and was defeated one appointed chief clerk by Stephens today.
