Prison escape at Maryland Penitentiary ends with two recaptured

Four inmates escaped by sawing window bars and using a blanket rope to reach the street. Charles Jenkins and Philip Puesherry were recaptured. Klarr Jenkins and George Colburn remained at large before patrols covered all city exits. Jenkins led authorities to the sister’s home near Wirt street after capture.

Norfolk civic leader Collins dies at age 1057

Deaths reported in Norfolk Virginia outline the life of Mr. Collins born Salisbury in 1890s. He moved to Norfolk where for over a half century he played a major role in religious, civic and business affairs. He founded Union Missions, donated a building and led the mission as president until his death. He helped establish the Le Kier and Collins lumber firm and served on the City Council on the prohibition ticket. Survived by his wife Octavia and two sons Paul and S Q Collins Jr. and a grandson A B Krisc.

Blue Ridge Lodge Wins Maryland Membership Cup

Tlue Ridge Lodge of Levi Gr received the Grand Lodge of Maryland cup for the largest membership gain during the year. Annapolis Lodge earlier won the cup in 1924. Eighty four new members joined Blue Ridge Lodge, raising membership from 210 to 258, a forty eight percent rise. Barton Mumford, past grand worthy patron, represented Salisbury Lodge at the Grand Sessions in Chad Bellows Temple. The cup will be delivered to the Lodge by Mr Mumford on May 15. Blue Ridge Lodge, organized thirty five years ago, elected Preston Anuth as Worthy Master and noted other officers.
