Judge Duffy sentenced him to two years in the penitentiary after he was arrested October 1 on complaints by American Propeller and Paragon Engineering, where he served as cashier. Discrepancies showed $3,600 collected but not handed in.

Joseph Shippee of Mainefield Conn won the All New England Fiddling championship defeating Providence favorite Jim Caffney in the final. The contest, held over three nights, was staged by the Town Criers. Shippee overcame pre show nerves to perform tunes including Arkansas Traveller and a Scotch hornpipe.
